The Clachaig Falls in Glencoe just close to the Clachaig Inn which does a mean cajun chicken. There was a lot of snow melt as this was taken the day after storm Kathleen and it was still very windy. Up on the hillside can be seen the waterfall Elliott's downfall or the Tears of Glencoe.

An image of Buachaille Etive Mòr in Glencoe. Shot in the middle of storm Kathleen keeping the camera still in the high winds was quite tricky.

On a rare misty morning for us in this part of the world it's difficult to know where to go to capture it. By the time I reached the Auld Brig O Doon over the river Doon most of the mist had unfortunately dissipated. This is the brig/bridge featured in the poem Tam O' Shanter by Rabbie Burns where Tam is chased by witches on his way home. Just before he reached the keystane of the bridge a witch grabbed the tail of his horse Meg and pulled the tail off. The loss of the tail meant Tam and his horse Meg were able to escape.

Autumn is almost over most of the leaves are off the trees. There is still some colour to be had on the woodland floor especially at Dalcairney Fall near Dalmellington Ayrshire. This has been on my list for years to photograph I was just to lazy. What a mistake my laziness has been it is a wonderful set of Falls.

The lovely old ruin of Dunskey Castle down on the Rhines of Galloway. Not far from the quaint fishing village of Portpatrick after the initial steep climb it is easy going to get to the castle along the cliff walk.

A black and white version of Turnberry Lighthouse at Turnberry golf course. Situated on the Ayrshire coast  with the Isle of Arran in the background. Because of the lighting and the tones in the dark clouds this image deserved a black & white conversion.

As we head into a Scottish autumn although still early it was time to capture some early autumn colour. The wonderful Ness Glen next to bonnie Loch Doon was the choice for the day. This is actually the start of the river Doon that features in the Burns  poem Tam O' Shanter where a witch chased Tam and his horse Meg over to Old Brig of Doon.

Turnberry Lighthouse on a blue cloud day. I went down to Turnberry to try and shoot a sunset because the cloud structure looked good that day. While I was waiting I took this shot because of the lovely colour in the clouds... there was no sunset.

Even a winters day in February does not diminish the beauty of Loch Leven close to Glencoe. Still waters reflecting the mountains winter colours, including a glimpse of the Pap of Glencoe on the left

Another lovely location to shoot in wild Galloway at Loch Trool the Buchan Burn. This burn runs into the loch full of Scottish history and further upstream some lovely waterfalls.

I am always fascinated by this building on the shore next to the Dolphin House at Culzean Castle owned by the NTS. Culzean Castle sits high on the clifftop on the beautiful Ayrshire coast.

An early taste of winter at Loch Doon with this old Oak tree and a cheeky wee Robin. Mr Robin just sat there with is back to me refusing to turn around to add a touch of red to the scene.

I can not think of a better location for a man shed than this at Buchan House in Galloway. A lovely Autumnal day close to the Buchan Burn by the side of Loch Trool.

The Gairland Burn in Galloway Scotland in full flow after many rain filled days. The burn flows down into Loch Trool scene of an early battle in the Scottish Wars of Independence.

Some lovely light at Turnberry Lighthouse as Autumn approaches. Right next to the Ailsa golf course this iconic lighthouse has seen many stormy days.

Hermitage Castle down in the Scottish Borders a moats eye view. Described as awe inspiring with a reputation both from appearance and it's history as sinister and brooding. Not to mention one of the most atmospheric in Scotland.

By happenstance one of many hidden waterfalls in Galloway.

A view down Loch Trool in Galloway with a much smaller ordinary stone in the foreground. Shot at the same time as the previous image Lonesome Muckle Stane at the very end of Autumn

This muckle stane (big stone) sits alone in the waters at the western end of Loch Trool down in wild Galloway. Down at the eastern end of the Loch is where Robert De Bruce King of Scots fought one of the early battles in the Scottish Wars of Independence.

I had to balance precariously on top of a tussock of grass to get separation from the beautiful Autumn colour of the larch and orange bracken in the background. Having to wade across marshy at both ends of the Loch it is easy to see how the English heavy horse became bogged down, treacherous stuff.

Another version of the Isle of Arran the Sleeping Warrior looking across the Firth of Clyde.

A view over rough seas in the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran. Taken in early December before the first snow arrived to cover the high peak of Goat Fell

This old oak tree on the banks of Loch Trool holding onto the very last of the Autumn colour. Glimpsed through the branches of the oak is the beautiful Galloway hillside the scene of a battle. One of the early battles in the First Scottish War  of Independence was fought there where Robert De Bruce defeated the English forces of Edward I at the battle of Glen Trool in April 1307.

This set of rocks close to Culzean Castle in Ayrshire caught my eye as I walked past on route to a location I had planned to photograph. It was perhaps an hour before high tide which gave me time to stop and take this image, little did I know a long haired Ashray was present. Thanks for looking

Looking up the beautiful Loch Eil from the Linnhe Lochside Holidays caravan and camping park. An excellent location to tour Lochaber from the road to the Isles.

Turnberry Lighthouse Scotland with Ailsa Craig in the background. Taken mid September probably the best time of year to start shooting this location. From September through to March the setting sun is in the best positions I think the, rest of the year it's to close to the Isle of Arran for my taste. From this point on it will travel just to the left of the lighthouse before heading back as summer approaches.

Thanks for looking.
